Entitlements 
 
All full time and part time employees are entitled to leave in accordance with the relevant awards or agreements and statutory provisions.
Annual Leave
 
Each employee is entitled to 20 days annual leave a year (pro-rata for part-time) accrued during the course of your employment, and 10 days personal leave pro-rata for part timers . Leave entitlements are calculated from an employee’s start date and accrue in accordance with workplace relations legislation or industrial instruments.

 

 

 

Personal (sick) Leave

This covers injury or illness of the employee, or an immediate family member or member of their household. 

An employee should notify his/her manager as soon as possible if they are unable to attend work due to illness or injury. Management, may request evidence such as a medical certificate. 

Other Leave

Other leave entitlements include:

  • Parental leave (paid at minimum wage subject to various conditions)
  • Domestic and family violence leave (unpaid)
  • Compassionate and bereavement leave (paid in certain circumstances)
  • Long Service leave
  • Community Service leave 

Casual employees are entitled to some of the above leave types (unpaid) in some circumstances.

Public Holidays

Full time employees and part time employees may either be required to work on a public holiday and be paid higher penalty rates for doing so, or if not required to work (but have a rostered shift on the public holiday) will be paid at normal rates despite not attending at work.

Applying for Leave

Prior to taking planned leave including annual, parental or long service leave, an application should be made via Deputy. Managers will approve or disallow leave applications in a timely manner. Unplanned leave such as sick or personal leave, is required to be lodged in Deputy, and the employees Manager should be notified as soon as practical and before the start of the employees shift, except in extenuating circumstances.

On the Deputy website, please click on your profile found in the top right corner of your screen. From there, please scroll down to "Leave", then click "Add New". And complete your leave details and add your Manager/s, then click “Add”.
